Global Pumice, LLC operates the Global Mine site (formerly California Natural Aggregates, Inc. – TXI) and the Southwest Mine site (formerly California Lightweight Pumice, Inc.) located in Olancha, California, comprising 2 of the only 3pumice mines in California. These mine sites have been in operation for over 30 years with Global Pumice purchasing and assuming both mining operations during 2014. Global Pumice is dedicated and committed to providing its customers with reliable and consistent product quality and availability. The Global Pumice workforce of highly skilled heavy equipment and experienced mining operators keep both mine sites operating at optimum performance. Global Pumice will continue to develop its expansion opportunities at the Global and Southwest mine sites fulfilling customer demand for quality product and delivery reliability. Our Aggregate Pumice product has been certified with the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI).
WHAT IS PUMICE?
Pumice is a volcanic rock consisting of highly vesicular rough textured volcanic glass. Pumice is created when super-heated, highly pressurized rock is violently ejected from a volcano. The rapid cooling and depressurization creates bubbles by lowering the solubility of gases that are dissolved in the lava which form into a highly porous material, which is typically light in color.
